What is HIPPA?

HIPPA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability)  is a federal law that keeps doctors from releasing your private health information unless you give permission in writing. While this protection ensures your right to privacy it can be a hindrance if you have a medical emergency and become incapacitated.

Why do I need a HIPPA Statement?

By completing a HIPPA Statement, in addition to your Medical Directive, you empower your designated Healthcare Agent (such as your wife or your child, and give them the legal authority to easily access your medical records and speak to doctors.  The HIPPA form will help your agent make important medical decisions, regarding your treatment, in a timely manner.
